Consider bringing your professional expertise to the Provincial Schools Branch Currently there is an exciting career opportunity available at Sir James Whitney School in Belleville, which serves deaf students in a residential school setting at both the elementary and secondary school levels This is a 0.5 permanent position available September 1, 2015Competition PSB15-029 - Teacher of the Deaf0.5 permanent position available September 1, 2015 ➢ Junior/Intermediate/Senior qualifications required You will: Provide individual/group programs of instruction for deaf children; Plan individual program needs as well as diagnosis and prescriptive teaching; Provide regular communication to parents regarding school and classroom activities; Participate in professional development activities.What we are looking for: Qualifications: Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers; Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Specialist qualifications, or minimum Part II and actively pursuing Specialist qualifications; Junior/Intermediate/Senior division qualifications. Abilities: Ability to teach deaf/hard of hearing students in academic programs and programs for students with multiple exceptionalities; Ability to develop/modify lesson plans, create IEP's to successfully teach deaf students; Ability to apply an in depth knowledge of the principles of teaching Deaf students; Ability to effectively manage a classroom and students using a variety of behavioural management techniques; Ability to write and present education materials and lesson plans using excellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL); Knowledge of Bilingual/Bicultural philosophy; Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and working with students with multi exceptionalities Location: Belleville, Ontario
