JOB POSTING # 753282Position:Manager, Student ServicesSite:Toronto General HospitalDepartment:UHN EducationReports to:Director of EducationHours:37.5 hours per weekStatus:Permanent Full-timePosition Description:As a critical leader within the UHN Education portfolio, the primary responsibilities of the Manager, Student Services include: providing leadership and operational oversight to the Student Centre to ensure the delivery of high quality educational programs to students at the University Health Network; working effectively with stakeholders from across health professions at UHN as well as with external academic partners and other TAHSN hospitals to ensure that students are adequately supported and have all the resources needed during their clinical experience; maintaining responsibility for coordinating shared resources and processes across professions across UHN; developing and implementing programs to enhance learner engagement and satisfaction; negotiating new, innovative clinical and non-clinical placement areas; developing and maintaining student databases, archives and the external student website while adapting to the needs of the academic partners and students; maintaining accountability for the maintenance of HSPnet functionality across UHN; maintaining responsibility for the TAHSN student evaluation reporting process; playing an active role in transitioning appropriate students to employment opportunities at UHN based on organizational needs; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.REQUIREMENTS:• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area• Three years of related experience in health care and education• Demonstrated ability to work strategically, proactively, independently and collaboratively• Experience coordinating student education and clinical faculty an asset• Demonstrated leadership competencies and commitment to high quality work• Substantiated ability to mentor, educate and coach staff and students in an individual and team setting• Superb organizational skills with proven flexibility and adaptability• Demonstrated competence in consulting/collaborating with other internal and external stakeholders (e.gProgram/Unit Managers, Academic partners)• Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ExcelKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Oversees all day-to-day activities related to student services for nursing and other health professions.• Manages all aspects of human resources for UHN Student Services staff• Performs planning responsibilities for the UHN Student Centre as it expands to include all health professions• Performs quality management responsibilities relating to students• Manages the unit/department financial resources for the UHN Student Centre• Performs corporate management responsibilities that support and advance UHN's goals• Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested• Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention's of the Act, in a timely manner• Participate in interprofessional education initiatives• Participate in relevant university, hospital and program-specific committees and task forces as a representative from EducationIf you are interested in making your contribution at UHN, please apply on-line.You will be asked to copy and paste as well as attach your resume and covering letter.You will also be required to complete some initial screening questions.POSTED DATE:April 17, 2015CLOSING DATE: May 1, 2015Posting # 753282For current UHN employees, only those who have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, and possess all the required experience and qualifications should apply.University Health Network thanks all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.UHN is a respectful, caring, and inclusive workplaceWe are committed to championing accessibility, diversity and equal opportunityRequests for accommodation can be made at any stage of the recruitment process providing the applicant has met the Bona-fide requirements for the open position.Applicants need to make their requirements known when contacted.
