/Sheridan welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minorities, Aboriginal People, and persons with disabilitiesTo request any accommodations you may require to participate in the recruitment process (including alternate formats of materials or accessible meeting rooms), contact //accessibility@sheridancollege.ca// to discuss your needs./ Note: Credentials obtained outside of Canada require an evaluation to determine the Canadian educational equivalenceThis evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position as a condition of employmentFor further information, visit: World Education Services The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sheridan is seeking a professor who will be responsible for curriculum leadership in the field of Film StudiesIn addition to the required film studies expertise, experience in filmmaking would be a definite assetThe successful candidate will develop an effective learning environment for students, as well as respect the individual learning styles and diverse cultural and educational backgrounds of students in applied degrees and other postsecondary programsThe candidate should be committed to working in a team environment that supports distinctive programmingResponsibilities: Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs, courses, and applied research within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potential, including: Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines; Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs in accordance with the provincial and college guidelines; Designing and revising courses and programs in consultation with the program coordinator, other faculty members, government departments, and potential employers and students; Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning, consistent with the learning outcomes of the course, and address multiple learning styles; Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process; Contributing to program development and research that serves the needs of the students across the College with involvement in consultative committees; Ensuring that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies, and evaluation techniques; carrying out regularly scheduled instruction; providing individual and academic tutoring and counselling; and evaluating student progress/achievement within assigned courses; Creating an effective environment for learning which respects and accommodates students diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning stylesQualifications: Ph.Din Film Studies required Three to five years experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level in a relevant field; Demonstrated ability to conduct applied research; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students; Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environmentAppointment Details: Employee Group: AcademicFaculty: Humanities and Social SciencesCampus: May be assigned activity at any Sheridan campus Reference #: 15/F/19 Salary Range: $59, 653 - $103,412 (based on relevant educational qualifications and experience)Start Date: August 2015 Application Deadline: March 23, 2015
