/Sheridan welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minorities, Aboriginal People, and persons with disabilitiesTo request any accommodations you may require to participate in the recruitment process (including alternate formats of materials or accessible meeting rooms) contact/ /accessibility@sheridancollege.ca// to discuss your needs./ Note: Credentials obtained outside of Canada require an evaluation to determine the Canadian educational equivalenceThis evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position as a condition of employmentFor further information, visit: World Education Services Sheridan is looking for an outstanding individual to join our faculty team, starting in August, 2015The successful candidate will teach a range of courses in the Bachelor of Illustration to students in our B.A(Illustration) Program in the Faculty of Animation, Arts & DesignCandidates should demonstrate an ability to teach core Illustration principles, visual communication, design, interactivity and technology coursesThey will also demonstrate a critical understanding of visual communication problem solving and innovative conceptual and strategic thinkingSpecial consideration will be given to candidates who show evidence of an advanced Illustration practice, creative scholarship and knowledge of contemporary design with social and cultural contextsIt is expected that the candidate will integrate research and practice within their teaching and will engage in curriculum development in response to evolving pedagogical needs in the disciplineExperience/interest in collaborative projects and teaching is desirableResponsibilities Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potentialThey also contribute to College, Faculty and Program excellence by collaborating on a variety of initiatives such as new program development, applied research and alternative delivery strategiesProfessors are responsible for: Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines; Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs; Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles; Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning; Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process Actively collaborating with colleagues and students within the program and across other disciplinesProfessors also ensure that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques; provide individual tutoring and academic counselling; and evaluate student progress/achievement within assigned coursesQualifications Masters degree in a related field of study (Ph.Dpreferred); formal studies in adult or higher education an asset; Minimum of five years (10 years preferred) of relevant professional experience with demonstrated recognition from respected industry organizations/ publications Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in business or industry preferred; Strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies and employers; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students; Committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and to working within a team environment; A personal and informed view of contemporary design and interaction design practices, issues, and criticismAppointment Details:Employee Group: AcademicFaculty: Animation, Arts and Design Reference #: 15/F/01Campus: /May be assigned activity at any Sheridan campus/Salary Range: $59,653 - $103,412 /(based on relevant //educational qualifications and experience)/ Start Date: August 2015 Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
