The Ministry of Education Invites Applications For The Following Position(s): Student Support Counsellor On-call/Supply positions (to work on an as needed basis)Residence Counsellor 2 Schedule A (40) OPSEU-IHC$23.82 - $26.20 per hour*Open Targeted The Ministry of Education, Centre Jules-Leger School, requires Student Support Counsellors, to work on an on-call as needed basis, to provide supervision, guidance, intervention and instruction for deaf students in planned and organized programs in a residential setting In this role you will: plan/organize/implement customized individual/group programs designed to meet the personal, emotional and developmental needs of students using a multi-disciplinary approach; supervise/guide/instruct residential students; provide sound physical care and maintain a safe/secure environment for residents. Work on an on-call as needed basis. Qualifications: Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements: Community college certificate and/or equivalent training, education and working experience in a child related field and experience working with deaf students; demonstrated ability to facilitate effective social / recreational / leisure programs geared to meet the needs of deaf students; knowledge of relevant legislation / policies / procedures / guidelines / practices that address student care and safety; excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and other professionals in French and English (oral and& written) and L.S.Q(Langue des signes québécoise); sound judgment and problem solving skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; current First Aid, CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention training; willingness and ability to work shifts Ability to work on an as needed basis AREA OF SEARCH: Open Targeted LOCATION: 281 Lanark Avenue, Ottawa*indicates the salary listed as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement
