The Ministry of Education Invites Applications For The Following Position(s): Resource Consultant of the Deafblind1.0 Permanent Position available December 2014(Contract rated under the Provincial Schools Authority) Do you hold expertise, experience and interest in the education of students who are deafblind? Consider bringing your professional expertise to the Provincial Schools Branch The Resource Services Program at WRoss Macdonald School in Brantford requires a Resource Consultant to support the Deafblind program. You will:o prepare individual educational programs of instruction for students with deafblindness; o provide information and training to families, community service workers, board personnel and other professionals relating to children with deafblindness; o provide functional assessments for children with deafblindness; o conduct workshops and conferences on various topics relating to deafblindness; o participate in ongoing professional development activities; o provide professional leadership to other members of the multi-disciplinary teamWe currently have the following position available:PSB14-138 Resource Consultant Deafblind 1.0 Permanent Position available December 2014 What are we looking for:QUALIFICATIONS: o Valid Certificate of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers; o Specialist Certificate as Teacher of the Deafblind or currently pursuing Specialist Qualification as Teacher of the Deafblind (Part 2 Minimum). ABILITIES:o Ability to successfully teach deafblind students;o Ability to assess students using effective and ongoing assessment and evaluation techniques including alternative assessment tools;o Ability to instruct/support students, families, district school boards, teachers, preschool/daycare staff and other stakeholders using skills normally acquired through experience as a Resource Consultant/Itinerant Teacher of the Deafblind;o Ability to provide effective leadership in instructional strategies, program planning, transition planning and pathways planning;o Ability to write and present educational reports;o Ability to provide and/or facilitate a variety of presentations using excellent interpersonal, and communication skills, including proficiency in English o demonstrated ability to approach education as part of a team; o Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the province based on assigned caseload. LOCATION: Brantford, Ontario with extensive overnight travel throughout Ontario.
