Are you interested in an exciting and satisfying summer work experience?We are looking for people who enjoy working with children & teens in an informal educational setting We have openings for both general and specialty counsellors.Camp Kodiak is an integrated residential summer camp serving children & teens with learning disabilities, and/or attention deficit disorder.We have 234 campers and a total staff of 125 Our staff includes teachers, psychologists, social workers, child & youth workers and recreation specialists We are located on a 425 acre site, with 2 1/2 kmsof waterfront on a quiet lake near Parry Sound Campers and staff are housed in comfortable lakefront cabins with electricity, full bathrooms, and large decks overlooking the lake.Many of our campers see themselves as "losers" because they have difficulty in all of the areas that are important to kids; academics, peer relations & athletics We work towards changing that negative self-concept by structuring the camp environment to ensure success We try to recognize and celebrate each and every one of those successes in order to build confidence and self-esteem We offer our campers a non-competitive program, step-by-step instruction, a huge variety of activities, a 2-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio and a mature, professional staff Our program includes over 50 sports & activitiesThe following is a partial list:-academic tutoring-social skills program-swimming-water-skiing-kneeboarding-wakeboarding-sailing-canoeing-kayaking-rock climbing-high ropes course-tennis-horseback riding-team sports-music-drama-pottery-stained glass-video production-computers-and many more.........In every classroom in Ontario there are students with exceptionalities Most teachers have not been given the training to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of these studentsA summer at Camp Kodiak will provide that training.
