At Richland Academy, we recognize that the journey to becoming a life-long learner begins with the awareness of a child's natural curiosityAs a 21st Century learning community, and the first private Early Years to Grade 8 school in York Region to embrace the Reggio Approach to inquiry learning, our students engage in opportunities to explore, investigate, collaborate and communicate with othersOur nurturing community offers a sense of belonging for our students, staff and families, and differentiates us from othersOur child-centered, experiential and intellectually-stimulating environment fosters life-long learning skills and attitudes, where our students and staff feel connected, capable and counted in our communityWe seek dedicated staff who support the beliefs and values that are part of our school cultureAs Richland's Music and Drama Teacher you will be regarded as a facilitator of music and performing arts, (including drama) across all grade levels, (Early Years to Grade 7) In addition to teaching the elementary rudiments of music, instrument proficiency and vocals, you will be required to prepare two school musical presentations throughout the academic year Additionally, you will establish music ensembles, bands, and a school choir.The ideal candidate will have:- Relevant University qualifications (e.gBachelor of Music degree as well as a Bachelor of Education degree)- Certification from the Ontario College of Teachers and be a member in "Good Standing"- a minimum of3 - 5 years of exemplary teaching experience- Personal performing experience, whether musical theatre or orchestral performance- Proficiency in world drumming, percussion instruments, recorder, minimum of RCM grade 8 piano and voice training- Knowledge and experience in ORFF is an asset- Knowledge and practice of subject matter, curriculum planning, assessment practices according to Ministry requirements for teaching at the Primary/Junior level- Knowledge and practice of teaching in an integrative manner- An interest and desire in creating or being a part of an innovative extracurricular experience for Primary/Junior students- Current CPR/First Aid/TB/VSC
