/Sheridan welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minorities, Aboriginal People, and persons with disabilitiesTo request any accommodations you may require to participate in the recruitment process (including alternate formats of materials or accessible meeting rooms), contact/ /accessibility@sheridancollege.ca// to discuss your needs./ Note: Credentials obtained outside of Canada require an evaluation to determine the Canadian educational equivalenceThis evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position as a condition of employmentFor further information, visit: World Education Services The Language Training Programs at Sheridan are looking for an outstanding individual to join our faculty teamThe successful candidate will instruct part-time in the area of Workplace Occupation Specific Communication training for Internationally Trained Professionals in the business fields of Sales & Marketing or Project ManagementSheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potentialProfessors are responsible for: Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines; Teaching a CLB 6+ class of internationally trained professionals according to CLB documents; Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs; Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students'' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles; Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning; Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles; Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process; Attending orientations, trainings, meetings and completing administrative duties (attendance, reports, etc.) in a timely mannerQualifications: University degree (B.A, BSc etc.) in relevant field is the minimum requirement, MA is preferred; TESL Ontario certification is required; At least 5 years of previous experience teaching ESL or LINC at the highest levels and/or OSLT, ELT teaching experience; Solid knowledge of principles of adult education, second language acquisition and the professional issues facing internationally trained professionals; Knowledge of ''access to profession'' issues facing newcomers, job search techniques, employment related vocabulary and professional terminology; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks, ability to assess students'' needs and progress; Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds; Computer skills with knowledge of educational software, MS Word, Internet; Education and experience in the field of Sales & Marketing or Project Management is required; Experience in job development is an asset; Excellent problem solving skills, creativity and ability to both lead teams and work in a teamAppointment Details: Employee Group: Part Time Faculty: Continuing and Professional Studies Campus: May be assigned activity at any Sheridan Campus Reference #: 14/PT/09 Hourly Range: Based on relevant educational qualifications and experience Start Date: ASAP Application Deadline: Open until filled Note: Credentials obtained outside of Canada require an evaluation to determine the Canadian educational equivalenceThis evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position as a condition of employmentFor further information, visit: World Education Services
