The Ministry of Education Invites Applications For The Following Position(s): Special Education TeacherSecondment Opportunity A rewarding opportunity awaits you with the Ministry of Education, Amethyst Demonstration School in London Our school is dedicated to providing quality education for students with learning disabilities in a residential setting Currently we are looking for a Special Education Teacher who wishes to have a province wide impact on the education of students with learning disabilitiesThis position is available on a one (1) year renewable secondment basis for a teacher who is currently employed on a full-time permanent basis by an Ontario School Board Interested teachers who have the prior approval of their Superintendent and Principal are invited to apply The following teaching position is available effective February 2, 2015. Please note: Teachers employed by a school board on a Long Term Occasional or Supply basis are not eligible to apply for this secondment position.1. PSB14-154 Special Education Teacher - position is to teach one of the following classes Math secondary math qualifications, strong literacy skills and experience and intermediate/senior division qualifications required, or; Physical Education physical education qualifications; strong interest in literacy and intermediate/senior division qualifications requiredSwimming qualifications would be an asset (i.eRed Cross or similar swimming program) QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers; Special Education qualifications (minimum Part 1); intermediate/senior division qualifications; demonstrated excellence in literacy and language development; demonstrated numeracy and secondary math skills; successful experience working with students with learning disabilities; excellent working knowledge of student language acquisition/ development, program modifications/accommodations, learning strategies, progress monitoring/evaluation; demonstrated experience with inclusive/assistive technology; interest and/or experience working with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and other emotional and behavioural problem students; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team; ability to work in partnership with the residence staff. NOTE: Candidates with either secondary math qualifications or physical education qualifications are invited to apply Candidates do not need to possess both math and physical education qualifications Teaching assignment will be based on the successful candidate's teaching qualifications.
