The Ministry of Education Invites Applications For The Following Position(s): Pre-School Educator Deaf Program 1.0 Replacement Position Resource Services Program Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf Belleville (Contracts rated under the Provincial Schools Authority)A rewarding career awaits you with the Ministry of Education, Resource Services DepartmentWe require Preschool Educators Deaf Program to join our teamYou will provide in-home educational/developmental support to families of Deaf/hard of hearing children from infancy to school age Supports provided include: information to parents regarding Deafness/Deaf culture; communication/educational options; strategies to enhance child development in areas such as language acquisition, communication, speech/auditory skills and cultural/social/emotional growth; liaison with other department staff / community /resources/professionals The following positions are available : Competition #: PSB14-133 Pre School Educator Deaf Program - 1.0 Replacement position Belleville (position is available January 2015 to May 1, 2015) Qualifications: Valid Certification of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers Specialist of the Deaf or ability to obtain (minimum Deaf Part II) Primary division qualifications Ability: Ability to write and present educational reports Understanding of Auditory Verbal principles and Bilingual-Bicultural education Understanding of assessment, teaching and learning strategies related to early math concept development Understanding of assessment, teaching and learning strategies related to early language and literacy development Ability to support and instruct adults and very young children Ability to support families using knowledge of developmental milestones Ability to develop individual family education plans Ability to support families who have children with multiple exceptionalities Knowledge of and ability to use a range of curricula in home based instruction including SKI*HI, ABLLS, CAROLINA, etc Experience delivering oral and/or sign based communication programs Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team Excellent observation and assessment skills Excellent interpersonal/communication skills Ability and willingness to travel to specified areas based on assigned caseload
