JOB DESCRIPTION: Guidance Counsellor Primary Role: Responsible for supporting students' academic and career needs through the delivery of timely and excellent secondary and post-secondary counseling on course selection and university/college placementResponsible for enlisting community resources as required in support of student needsJob Details: Counsel students on post-secondary course selection Counsel students on secondary course selection over four terms and ensure students are meeting requirements Manage Ontario University/College Applications OUAC and OCAS Assist students interested in international post-secondary applications (US, UK, Aus, etc.) Work with teachers, parents and students on overcoming student problems Oversee the application of Student Support Plans Oversee Foundations program for grade 9/10 students Oversee student acquisition of community service hours and research potential opportunities for campus population Undertake guidance administrative work such as database entry, maintenance of transcripts, etcAssist Head of School with course scheduling and timetabling Assist with admissions, presentation evenings, interviews and follow-up as needed Primary follow-up on attendance and late issues with students and parents Handling inquiries as needed concerning full time, part-time and private studies Other duties as assigned by Head of School May be called upon to cover for absent teachers Depending on enrollment and overall campus activity, may be asked to teach specific courses within the area of expertise
