What can I expect to do in this role?You will: develop and review residential programs and objectives in accordance with sound residential care management practices and current policies; ensure that the residential program is in compliance with residential standards and that residences are in compliance with safety requirements; ensure the safety and welfare of students enrolled in a residential program coordinate professional development for assigned staff; manage residence team leaders; provide leadership in the development of residential objectives and policies; participate in the development of school objectives and policies and maintain appropriate linkages with other programs on campus; assist in the preparation and management of residential budgets; assist in the coordination of the transportation of students.How do I qualify?Mandatory requirement: You have current certification in CPR and First Aid.Knowledge and related experience: You have demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in a residential setting with youth who are deafblind. You have knowledge and understanding of the social and emotional implications of deafblindness. You have knowledge of life skills and orientation and mobility practices and experience providing training and assessment. You have knowledge and understanding of the theories of child development, child management, behaviour modification, residential and recreational programs, and planning for students who are deafblind, including experience in individual program planning process You are able to interpret and apply knowledge of relevant legislation, ministry and school policies, procedures, guidelines and practices related to the health and welfare of students and residential programs and standards.
