Spirit of Math Schools is a system of after-school schools offering a challenging mathematics program in a classroom settingThis is not a tutoring positionStudents are highly motivated and often giftedTeachers selected to teach with Spirit of Math are provided with paid training before they begin, as well as ongoing professional development each year that they continue to teach with Spirit of MathDue to the nature of the positions, we are interested in motivated people who are willing to learn the Spirit of Math method and have experience in a classroom settingYou will be challenged to help students discover the conceptual building blocks and relationships which undergird mathematicsThe training you will receive as a Spirit of Math teacher will deepen your understanding of math and stretch your abilities as a teacherThere is 1 position available that will require teaching grades 7 and 8 students on select evenings from 4-8pmThis is considered a Part-time positionIf selected, you will start immediately as Assistant teacher from April to June and will graduate to teacher position in the new school year starting SeptemberEducational Requirements A degree from a recognized college or university is necessaryand post graduation in MathematicsA Bachelor of Education degree is an asset, but it is not mandatoryExperience teaching higher level of mathematics for high school and university students preferred
