: Sheridan welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minorities, Aboriginal People, and persons with disabilitiesTo request any accommodations you may require to participate in the recruitment process (including alternate formats of materials or accessible meeting rooms) contactaccessibility@sheridancollege.cato discuss your needs.Note: Credentials obtained outside of Canada require an evaluation to determine the Canadian educational equivalenceThis evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position as a condition of employmentFor further information, visit:World Education ServicesReporting to the Director, Academic Computing Integration Strategy, the Manager, Academic Systems Operations provides leadership, guidance and oversight to the technical Academic Systems Team which works closely with the Academic Faculties, the Centre for Teaching & Learning (CTL), and the IT development teamS/he will architect new academic systems, define both new system requirements and process improvements to drive productively, process optimization and compliance, smoothly deploy academic systems, technologies and processes that will be used by Faculties as part of Sheridan’s strategic journey to become a university and support the Faculties in the post-deployment use of systemsThe Manager is the systems advisor to the Director and the team, and is accountable for academic systems planning, implementation, ongoing evaluation, support, and service level managementS/he oversees upgrades, enhancements, replacements, add-ons and the testing, piloting and implementation of these systemsThe Manager is also responsible for the creation, and dissemination of communication and training regarding operational processes which impact the use of the academic systems and the provision of workshops and other training materials to assist users.Responsibilities include:Providing leadership and guidance to technical team and working closely with Faculties to deploy and deliver new academic systems for curriculum planning and academic term planning;Providing oversight and managing priorities and updates of: user acceptance testing, production cutover, conversion strategy and implementation (e.gcourse outlines), faculty training and support, transition planning, fit to academic Faculty requirements, system administration and vendor management;Leading/guiding team on technical training, support and problem solving of user issues;Consulting with the Director, determining delivery mechanisms to train all faculty, ensuring that the training is created, delivered and monitored;Acting as a resource to other departments in the utilization of academic systems and planning faculty professional development; providing creative solutions to meet departmental training needs and educating individuals not familiar with the academic systems;Providing input and direction on the life cycle needs for academic systems review, revitalization and change;Developing on-line training and providing advice/recommendations on system capabilities;Planning, implementing and assessing the impact of upgrades and service packs, in consultation with the Faculties and the Director;Playing a leadership role in the development of the Academic Systems Operations business plan by working with the Director to consolidate academic system plans which includes; determining administrative, financial, human resources, information management, information technology and process strategies to respond to ongoing business needs and new systems;Accountable for project initiation and planning activities, ensuring successful execution, managing risk/issues/change, reporting on progress/milestones, financials etc.;Providing leadership and direction to the team to ensure proper coverage, prompt response to user queries and problems, escalation of problems to the vendor and tracking of vendor cases;Setting service standards for the work of the area and associated staff as required; conducting staff meetings to set goals and monitoring progress of various projects and pilotsEnsuring that collaborative cross training occurs;Developing, monitoring and administering department and project budgets within allocated resources;Serving on a variety of internal and external Sheridan committees offering knowledge and support to ensure currency with issues and best practices to resolve them;Leading/participating on other projects or activities as required.Qualifications:The successful candidate must possess a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field (or 3 year diploma/degree + postgraduate diploma), along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience)The incumbent will possess in-depth experience with new system design and deployment, process design, system development, testing and implementation, and have developed relevant documentation and training curriculum for systemsFormal project management training or PMP is preferredThe incumbent must possess sound management and demonstrated leadership experience, including experience managing systems projects of large scope and impactIn addition, a high-level of analytical, creative problem solving, and project management skills is requiredExperience with Sheridan systems and managing staff in a unionized environment would be considered an assetThe incumbent should display a high level of professionalism and discretion, excellent customer service skills and the ability to work at a strategic levelIn addition, the candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Appointment Details:Employee Group: AdministrativeFaculty/Department: Office of thr Provost and Vice President, AcademicCampus: Trafalgar(May be assigned activity at any Sheridan campus)Reference #: 15/A/13Payband: NMHiring Range: $86,858 - $92,287Salary Range: $86,858 - $108,573Application Deadline: February 23, 2015
